How many of us can remember being a child and having certain situations occur that negatively impacted the way we viewed “our world,” people, and ourselves? Although children are very resilient beings, they can have difficulty dealing with these types of situations. Even if they are not expressing themselves clearly, there is still a voice that needs to be heard. Often times, because of their vulnerability and emotional immaturity, they are silenced and/or misunderstood or they are cognitively unable to effectively process the emotions they are feeling about the situations at hand. When children feel powerless and unheard during challenging times, their mental and emotional well-being suffers. Therapy allows children the ability to be heard and understood so healing can begin.
Questions to consider:
Does your child have problems communicating with you? Are they displaying unhealthy behaviors? Do they have low self-esteem or are experiencing anxiety? Are they having a hard time adjusting to a new situation or environment?
Is your teenager heading for the wrong path or refusing to communicate with you about their problems and you don’t know what to do or how to help?
At R.E.S.T Counseling & Consulting, our goal is to use an integrative and collaborative approach that fosters a healthy relationship between child and parent. We use different treatment modalities such as play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to get to the root of the problems and teach our clients how to use various methods in order to deal with their situations more effectively. We work to connect mind, body, and soul to support clients when they are dealing with life or any situation they may face in a mature and positive way.
