Many people are still unsure what exactly is and what to expect when it comes to virtual counseling, telemedicine or whatever name you’d like to give it. If you’re wondering if telemedicine is for you and how it works here are a few steps:
If you’re reading this, you’ve already taken the first step; seeking for help. The next step might be a little difficult, but you’ll be halfway there. Give us a call, so we can schedule a consultation and steer you in the right direction.
Congratulations you have been ranked as strong among the polls. Because you are here, you have outrun every person in need. Taking the first step is hard, and yet here you are. We applaud you. One thing is true, therapy is not for the weak but for the strong. Asking for help sometimes may seem uneasy at first, but it places you in the right direction. With the increase of so many worldwide events, therapy has been sought on now more than ever, that is why many see it as trending as opposing to people just seeking for help on how to cope in such unprecedented times.
A session can range anywhere from 30 minutes, 45 or 60 minutes. Most people opt for the 60-minute session.
Yes, we are in network for Cigna and Aetna. All other insurances are considered out of network. And what that means is that we issue a “superbill” to your insurance carrier for reimbursement of costs.
That is something to be discussed with your therapists. It all depends on where you are and your availability. Everyone’s journey is different; therefore, we have clients who come in weekly, bi-weekly and so forth.
Absolutely yes! Aside from being protected by HIPPA, every staff member and client before commencing services are required to sign a confidentiality form so that “what is said in therapy, stays in therapy”.
A friend or family member will indeed listen and give advice based on their experiences, perspectives, fears, and so forth. But often, also lose patience and may be annoyed. A therapist, however, will not just listen, but will equip you with tools not just for that moment in life but for the rest of your life so that you can cope, learn to R.E.S.T and be able to pick yourself up when needed. A therapist will use different modalities, persevere, and work with you until you are able to get out of the cocoon and fly.
Medication is still seen as a taboo worldwide. Often times, also seen as a “crutch” to not deal with the deep-rooted problem. When taking just medicine without a treatment plan, or accompanied by a therapist or anyone of the sort, we are just “buffering” the problem. It does not solve all your issues. Now, when you have therapy involved with medicine not only will the medicine treat your symptoms but in therapy you will learn different modalities and techniques to learn how to rewire your brain, train your thoughts, and possibly even answer the “whys” you’ve held on for too long.
This depends on your journey and where you stand. Everyone is driving in different directions throughout life but are all ultimately seeking the same; love, happiness, peace and understanding. Everyone is peculiar, unique and brilliant in their own way, cope differently, learn differently and that is why “time” in this instance can not be measured. Only you know what you need, how you need it. It is only when you feel you have found “healing” that your sessions may be over, but not your journey. That is why being bluntly honest with your therapist is a must, so that you both can address all that is within and finally find R.E.S.T.

If you and your partner are having problems, we would strongly recommend to be seen as a couple. After you have been seen as a couple and the problem has been dealt with, either can choose to continue counseling as a couple or choose individual counseling.
It is crucial that you and your therapist are a good fit for each other. Another pivotal point is your total honesty. No one but yourself knows what goes on inside of you, even if you don’t recognize what this feeling is or even how to explain a situation, always attempt to say something. When a therapist has heard and seen what your concerns are, it is easier to work on those things and get better results. Another aspect is commitment, and dedication to your sessions. Your participation matters, being involved in your growth matters. Committing to each session and being responsible of the time and your appointment are steps to gain the best out of therapy.
